Skiing the Clouds


This was taken with a point-and-shoot camera at about 9,000 ft, just below Camp Muir on Mt. Rainier last weekend. This was a tough shot because it is so hard to compose a shot with the LCD screen in bright light.

I got lucky on this one. I selected a semi-auto setting for "snow and beach" which adjusts the exposure for more light. I shot this at a focal length 0f 63 mm, ISO 50, 1/500 of a second, f 7.4 which gave me plenty of speed and depth of field. However, there was a LOT of light to work with from the blue skies and white snow, enough to sunburn my tongue!
